
This was the first charrette of the vision implementation project. The intent was to assist the City with their most controversial project, as early as possible in an ambitious city-wide vision implementation process. A highly public and participatory process was performed, and additional public comment continues to be received. A detailed concept for the road redesign was prepared as a first step towards discussions with Council and FDOT. It is expected that further refinement of the concept will take place over the next 12 months.
After a five year planning process led by the City of Sarasota, the Burns Square property owners association requested the preparation of a detailed master plan for their downtown district. A charrette was held that included participation of all affected property owners and neighbors. The charrette report sets priorities for public projects (street design, parking structure, etc), includes conceptual designs for key public projects, and defines the architectural character of private development.
